Message of thanks to Mr. Chou En-lai, Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of China on December 1, 1972
It give me immense pleasure to convey to you the deepest appreciation of the Government and people of Pakistan for the firm and resolute stand on principle taken by your Government on the question of the admission of Bangladesh into the United Nations. This stand has been vindicated by the authoritative declaration of the interdependence of the admission of Bangladesh and the implementation of Resolution 307 of the Security Council. It has now received the unquestioned endorsement of the entire membership of the United Nations. This is a victory for the cooperation of China and Pakistan, for peace-loving neighbouring States, mutually committed to end hegemony and exploitation. In taking this stand, your Government has supported a preeminently just cause and imperishably strengthened the bonds of friendship between our two countries.
